Canadian snowboarder Laurie Blouin injured in fall, taken to hospital

Canadian slopestyle snowboarder Laurie Blouin went down hard after landing a jump during a training run in Pyeongchang on Friday. The defending world champion was then taken off the hill on a sled.

Canadian slopestyle snowboarder Laurie Blouin went down hard when her board got stuck in a crack after landing a jump during a training run in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Friday.

Blouin was immediately taken to hospital and the Canadian Olympic Committee later said in a statement that she was conscious, alert and going back to the athletes' village with a team doctor.

A team spokesperson said on Saturday that Blouin may still compete and that she is still recovering from the hard fall.

The 21-year-old from Stoneham, Que., is a first-time Olympian.

Blouin is also scheduled to compete in the big air event in Pyeongchang.
