Former NHL goaltender Jonas Hiller stopped 23 of 25 shots in net for the Swiss, who got a second-period goal from Simon Moser to tie it. Switzerland couldn't muster much offense against a structured Germany team.
Germany next faces Sweden, the only team to go 3-0-0 in pool play. The Swedes are led by former NHL forward Linus Omark and goaltender Viktor Fasth, who stopped 35 of the 36 shots he faced in two starts.

College kids again led the way for the U.S., which scored more against Slovakia then it did in all three preliminary-round games. James Wisniewski, Mark Arcobello and Garrett Roe also scored for the Americans, who took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play for hits on Donato and goaltender Ryan Zapolski.
Slovakia goaltender Jan Laco allowed five goals on 33 shots and Peter Ceresnak scored a power-play goal for Slovakia, which became the first team eliminated from the men's side.
Norway 2, Slovenia 1 (OT)

Norway will play Russia in its first Olympic quarterfinals game thanks to 33 saves from goaltender Lars Haugen. Tommy Kristiansen scored in regulation for Norway.
Slovenia played without forward Ziga Jeglic, who was suspended earlier in the day for doping. Captain Jan Mursak says he did not know why Jeglic was not in the lineup. He says he was "shocked" when he found out the reason and the 29-year-old's explanation that he tested positive for something in asthma medicine.
Gasper Kroselj, who beat the United States in overtime in Slovenia's opener, stopped 24 of 26 shots and thought the winning goal should not have counted. Officials reviewed the play for goaltender interference that happened a few seconds before the play, which is allowed internationally but not in the NHL, but the call on the ice stood.
Finland 5, South Korea 2
The Associated Press
Eeli Tolvanen had three assists and Petri Kontiola scored twice as Finland survived a scare from host South Korea to win 5-2 and will face Canada in the Olympic quarterfinals.

Dallas Stars prospect Miro Heiskanen and Juuso Hietanen also scored, Sakari Manninen added an empty-netter and Mikko Heiskanen made 17 saves for Finland.
South Korea players carried flags around the ice after the game at their first Olympics. Brock Radunske and Jin Hui Ahn scored the quickest two goals in South Korea hockey history — 2:03 apart in the second period to make it a game.
South Korea had been outscored 14-1 in pool play. Canadian-born goaltender Matt Dalton stopped 32 of the 36 shots he faced to keep South Korea in it against Finland.
