Canada's Jennerich, Obee take rowing silver in women's double sculls
Late charge falls just short of gold

Rowers Lindsay Jennerich and Patricia Obee of Victoria have taken the silver medal in lightweight women's double sculls rowing in Rio.

The duo finished just behind the Dutch world champions after a late charge for gold fell just short.
The pair are known for their strong finishes, and just as they did in their previous races, the pair made their move from near the back of the field about halfway through the 2,000-metre race.
"If we couldn't do anything until the last 250, our last 250 is so strong I knew that we were going to get a bronze, at least," said Obee. "The aura in the boat felt like we're charging and it could be gold, it could be anything.""
While they leap-frogged from fifth to second place in the process, their time of 7:05:88 ended up being just over a second behind the winners, Maaike Head and Ilse Paulis of the Netherlands, who crossed the line with a time of 7:04.73.
Canadian Olympic Committee president Tricia Smith, a former rower, presented the women with their medals, giving them each a warm embrace.

—@CBCOlympics"I'm really thankful for the Netherlands because they raced a race that made me feel really good about getting a silver medal," said Jennerich. "It truly was all we had. I pretty much petered out for the last two strokes and we basically limped ahead of China at the end. It was really all we had. Around 200 (metres to go) I said to Obee we could win. We were closing in, but they were able to answer it and it left us just finishing our last drops of gas right to that line."
Earlier in the day, rower Carling Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont. finished fourth in her women's single sculls semifinal, and as such will not advance to the medal round in the A finals. She'll race in the B final Saturday.
And just after 10:30 a.m. ET, the men's four team of Will Crothers, Tim Schrijver, Conlin Mccabe and Kai Langerfeld finished in sixth place in the A final of their event.
