Canadian judoka Kelita Zupancic won gold in the women's under-70-kilogram competition Sunday at the European Cup judo tournament in Celje, Slovenia.

Zupancic, from Whitby, Ont., beat Britain's Katiejemima Yeatsbrown in the final with two yukos.

"She was on point the entire day," said Canada's national coach Sasha Mehmedovic. "She controlled all her matches tactically and physically, which led to a gold medal performance."

Zupancic defeated Denmark's Emilie Sook and Germany's Jenny Werner by ippon in the preliminary rounds, before beating Russia's Ekaterina Tokareva by the same score in the semifinals.

On the men's side, Montreal's Arthur Margelidon finished fifth in the Under-81-kilogram class.
