Rosie MacLennan's phone has been lighting up with congratulatory messages since she was announced as Canada's Olympic flag-bearer on Thursday. She admitted she hasn't had time to read them all, but she could feel their support from Parliament Hill.

MacLennan becomes the first Canadian trampolinist to be awarded the honour of waving the flag at the opening ceremony. On a conference call Thursday she said she wasn't surprised to hear from fellow trampolinists and friends Jason Burnett and Karen Cockburn before anyone else.

Burnett also took to Twitter to voice his support.

As Canada's only gold medallist from London four years ago, MacLennan was a popular choice to lead this year's team heading to Rio.

Hayley Wickenheiser, who carried the flag at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, had some advice for MacLennan about taking in the experience.

McLennan said she was honoured to receive such a positive response from her teammates and was looking forward to sharing the "magic" of the opening ceremony with them.
