P.K. Subban spreads joy, Canadian athletes head home for holidays
Long journey home for holidays worth it for Canada's top athletes
Canada's high performance athletes are spread throughout the world for competitions or training, but like most Canadians they make a point to come home during the holidays to be with family, friends and take a much-needed break.
Homeward bound
Rower and 2014 women's eight world champion Christine Roper is heading to Victoria to be with family for the holidays.
Heading to Victoria today for the holidays!! ✈️ can't wait to see my family! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Christmas?src=hash">#Christmas</a>
—@cfroper15
We're not sure how long Roper's journey will be, but cyclist Sean Mackinnon has a solid 16 hours of travel time before he'll get home for Christmas.
Almost time for christmas... Just need to survive the 16 hour travel day
—@smackinn
Or perhaps a bit longer.
Why plane???? I was so close to getting home... Airplanes hate me
—@smackinn
Hour three in the plane and it hasn't moved... People are starting to get rowdy
—@smackinn
His cycling teammate Kristi Lay had a similarly long journey home from training camp in New Zealand.
Closed out our NZ road camp this morning. Now all that stands between me & Christmas holidays is 18hrs of ✈️! Honey, I'm coming HOME! 🎄🎅🏼🙌🏼

But Lay made it home and tweeted out what she's been doing in Montreal. You can get back on that diet Jan. 1.
How I know I'm back in Montréal -> all I've eaten today are croissants, and a baguette & cheese. 👌🏼 <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/homesweethome?src=hash">#homesweethome</a>

Training never stops
Nine-time national boxing champion Mandy Bujold may be on Christmas vacation, but the training never truly stops if you are going to be the best. She'll be ringing in the New Year with a nice group run.
Who wants to join me for a New Years Eve run at midnight? There is no better way to bring in 2016! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/RoadToRio2016?src=hash">#RoadToRio2016</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NowOrNever?src=hash">#NowOrNever</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamBujold?src=hash">#TeamBujold</a>

Peace on earth, and peace I'm out of here
One half of this year's Grand Prix final silver medal pair, Eric Radford, is celebrating the holidays outside of Canada in warm and sunny Tel Aviv.
Christmas vacation in Tel Aviv!!! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ironic?src=hash">#ironic</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/adventure?src=hash">#adventure</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/lovemylife?src=hash">#lovemylife</a> <a href="https://t.co/o6M0CbkDVW">pic.twitter.com/o6M0CbkDVW</a>

Retired freestyle skier and Sochi ski gold medallist Alexandre Bilodeau is chasing the sunshine, too, and going down under for the holidays.

#CanadaCarols
Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban isn't coming or going for the holidays, instead he's just trying to bring Canadians together to make kids smile with his #CanadaCarols Jingle Bells rendition. #CanadaCarols is spreading, and even had our Prime Minister participating. We're still waiting on Justin Bieber to take part, to be honest.
And now, the extended version! Bring cheer to sick kids and share your version of Jingle Bells with <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/CanadaCarols?src=hash">#CanadaCarols</a> <a href="https://t.co/UrGC6PQFyQ">https://t.co/UrGC6PQFyQ</a>

We're looking forward to the final #CanadaCarols video, P.K. Perhaps a Christmas morning release?
