On Sunday Canadian Anthony Bennett confirmed on Twitter that he has signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors.

So the Toronto Raptors added one Canadian to their roster this off-season, and there appears to be another on the way.

In July, the Raptors made a splash in free agency by signing point guard Cory Joseph, a native of Pickering, Ont., to a four-year deal.

Forward Anthony Bennett then confirmed on Twitter on Sunday that he will be joining Canada's lone NBA franchise.

Bennett, 22, spent the 2014-15 campaign with the Minnesota Timberwolves after arriving in a trade from Cleveland along with Andrew Wiggins.

However, the Timberwolves decided to cut ties with Bennett, who has struggled since being chosen first overall by the Cavaliers in the 2013 draft.

Bennett, who is from the Toronto area, cleared waivers on Friday and became free to join any team. ESPN reported on Friday that he would sign a one-year deal with the Raptors.

In two seasons, Bennett has appeared in 109 games (three starts), and in 14.3 minutes per contest, has averaged 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds.

Bennett played for Canada in the Pan Am Games and at the FIBA Americas Championship in which Canada fell just short of qualifying for the 2016 Olympics.

Another fit mentioned for Bennett was the Portland Trail Blazers where national team coach Jay Triano works as an assistant.

Bennett is young, has dealt with injuries, but whether he can grow into a serviceable NBA player is a matter of debate.
