Nesbitt now has 4 straight golds
Speed skater adds 2nd speed skating win of weekend in 1,000 metres
Canadian long-track speedskater Christine Nesbitt is still undefeated in the women's 1,000 metres this season.
Nesbitt, of London, Ont., captured a World Cup gold medal Sunday with a time of one minute 16.55 seconds in a race at Changchun, China.
The win came just a day after she set a track record (1:16.07) at the distance. Nesbitt has won all four of her 1,000-metre races this season.
American Heather Richardson was second in 1:17.592 and Nao Kodaira of Japan was third in 1:17.98. Brittany Schussler was fourth in 1:18.06 and Cindy Klassen, also of Winnipeg, was eighth in 1:18.60.
South Korea's Lee Sang-hwa finished in 38.22 seconds to win gold in the women's 500 metres. Yu Jing of China was second in 38.27 and Jenny Wolf of Germany took the bronze in 38.44.
In the men's 500, American Tucker Fredricks won gold in 35.26. Jan Smeekens of the Netherlands won silver in 35.27 and Lee Kyou-hyuk of South Korea won bronze in 35.32.
Stefan Groothuis of the Netherlands won gold in the men's 1,000 metres in 1:09.39. Compatriot Simon Kuipers won silver in 1:10.11 and Kyou-hyuk took the bronze in 1:10.13.
