Martin Fourcade of France wins 10K sprint biathlon World Cup
Canadian Scott Perras 10th
Martin Fourcade of France shot perfectly while keeping a fast pace on the cross-country trail to win a 10-kilometre biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany on Saturday for his third victory of the season.
The 16th victory of Fourcade's career extended his lead atop the overall standings.
The Frenchman took longer than his rival to complete the shooting, but he was clearly the fastest on skis to win comfortably against Evgeny Ustyugov of Russia, who was 16.4 seconds behind.
Andrei Makoveev of Russia was third.
Regina's Scott Perras finished 10th with two clean shots and a time of 24 minutes 40.5 seconds in the sprint.
"I've been close this year, but have never quite put it together," said Perras, whose previous best result was 25th. "I worked hard on my shooting over the Christmas holidays. I knew I could do it. I just needed to get out there and get it done. It feels great to do that today."
