Magali Harvey nominated for rugby try of the year

Canadian winger Magali Harvey has been nominated for the International Rugby Players' Association Try of the year. 

The 24-year-old is among five nominees up for the prestigious award, and is the only woman that received a nomination this year. 

The other nominees are South Africa's Francois Hougaard and Cornal Hendricks, Wales' Jamie Roberts, and England's Jonny May, all of whom were selected by a panel of former players.

Harvey's try came in a semi-final match against France in the Women's World Cup that took place in August. She ran 87 metres before grounding the ball, and gave Canada an 18-6 lead over the host country. 

Despite Canada's eventual 21-9 loss to England in the final, Harvey was named the IRB Women's Player of the year for her exceptional performance in the tournament. She is the first Canadian to receive this honour. 

The Try of the year winner will be announced at the end of the year, and the public can weigh in via social media. Those votes will be factored into the selection panel's final decision.
