Washington Capitals re-sign trio of players

The Washington Capitals re-signed forward Stephen Peat and goaltender Maxime Ouellet to one-year contracts Sunday.

Washington also inked 28-year-old defenceman Dwayne Zinger, who played in seven games for the Capitals last year with one assist.

Peat, 24, played in 64 games last season, and has registered eight goals and 10 assists in 129 contests over his three-year career.

The 23-year-old Ouellet, a first-round pick of Philadelphia in 1999, spent most of the 2003-04 campaign with the AHL's Portland Pirates where he was 15-29-8 with a 1.99 goals-against average.

In six games with the Capitals, Ouellet compiled a 2-3-1 record and a 3.12 GAA.
