Jeff Churchill
Hometown: Vancouver, B.C.
Hockey involvement: Jeff is assistant coach on each of his two sons' hockey teams in the Vancouver Thunderbirds Minor Hockey Association. He also plays in a men's league twice a week and will be a goalie coach this spring.
Jeff has also volunteered as timekeeper and helps update the VTMHA's alumni website.
Star status: Jeff's passion for minor hockey lead him to create a profile in the Our Game Community, where he asked for advice from Our Game experts and began a forum. He also made use of drills for his practices.
He says hockey is what "fills [his] soul".
Wes Stankoven
Hometown: Kamloops, B.C.
Hockey involvement: Wes played minor hockey for 13 years in Enderby, B.C. and now helps coach his son Logan's team. He's also vice president of the Kamloops Ice Pirates hockey program. The sport is "a passion and lifestyle" for his family.
Star status: Wes posted pictures of his son, Logan, to his profile in the Our Game Community. He says the Community is a great way to showcase people of all ages "enjoying the best game in the world".
Justin Disher
Hometown: Welland, Ont.
Hockey involvement: Justin manages the city's major midget AAA and minor atom AA teams and also helps coach the major bantam A team. When he's not busy doing that, he's in the arena broadcast booth announcing the games and playing music.
Star status: Justin posted pictures to his profile and wrote a blog in the Our Game Community.
Gayl Hawkins
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Hockey involvement: As website manager of her eldest son's Scarborough Young Bruins atom AA team, Gayl has been blogging about each playoff game and taking pictures of the players in action. Gayl is always in the stands to watch her two sons, Spencer Gaunt, 10, and Colton Gaunt, 9.
Star status: Gayl recently began writing blogs about Spencer's team's games in her Our Game Community profile. She provides play-by-play recaps along with posting photos of the players.
"It's really quite fun," she said, noting that she often adds "motivating and inspiring" music to the photo collection.
Suzanne Vienneau
Hometown: Edmonton, Alta.
Hockey involvement: Suzanne is manager of the Edmonton Blades Junior sledge hockey team. Her 12-year-old son, Alex, has cerebral palsy and plays on the team.
Suzanne's husband, Marc, is coach and the couple's youngest son, Ben, who is able-bodied, also plays.
Star status: On her Our Game Community profile, Suzanne posted pictures of her sons' sledge hockey team in action and has been blogging about their season.
"Winning is just the icing on the cake," she wrote.
Dustin Shilton
Hometown: Courtenay, B.C.
Hockey involvement: Shilton plays peewee minor hockey with the Comox Valley Minor Hockey Association and is a big fan of the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.
He's been playing hockey eight years, and as he puts it, "My life revolves around hockey. I just love the game."
Star status: On his Our Game Community profile (Shilton_star.13), he has posted numerous pictures of his team and of NHL games he's attended, including shots of two of his favourite players, Jarome Iginla and Mikka Kiprusoff.
Wayne Wasyluk
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Hockey involvement: Wasyluk earned the nickname 'The Iceman' in his Toronto neighbourhood because he puts in endless hours making, flooding and shoveling two natural ice rinks in the area.
He's been playing hockey since he was a boy and plays shinny every week on his rink with the Cameron Friday Nighters.
Star status: Through his Our Game Community profile 'The Iceman,' Wasyluk has been posting pictures to the photo gallery and to his own personal galleries of action at the rink, including kid's shinny games, pleasure skating and pictures of himself tending to the ice.
Jayson Moonie
Hometown: Penticton, B.C.
Hockey involvement: Moonie volunteers updating stats on the British Columbia Hockey League website during the Penticton Vees junior A games.
He's spent his life in the arena-- cheering on his brother's teams and volunteering as goal judge, water boy, concession worker and scorekeeper.
Star status: Moonie has been posting pictures of the Penticton Vees to his community profile ("shades23"). He still volunteers helping out in the arena wherever he can.
Steph Cook
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Hockey involvement: Cook manages a team, plays on two teams, and is a regular in the stands cheering for the Brampton Thunder of the Canadian Women's Hockey League. She has also attended a World Championships and two Four Nations Cups.
Cook is a student at the University of Toronto and says once she graduates she hopes to be able to play in multiple leagues and to coach a team with the Toronto Leaside Girl's Hockey League.
Star status: Cook's community profile speaks to her love for the game. As she writes, "Hockey is my passion and I live for my weekly games."
Cook has posted numerous pictures to her community profile, including shots of her posing with former national team player Vicky Sunohara, now a member of the Brampton Thunder.
Ward Day
Hometown: Toronto, Ont.
Hockey involvement: Day has two kids in the game - Adam, 14, and McKenzie, 8, and he's been either a head coach or assistant for the last five seasons.
Day's also made it possible for his kids to practice right in their own backyard. For the last eight winters he has built a backyard rink for the kids to enjoy, and every year it gets better. This year it includes painted lines and a Toronto Maple Leafs symbol in the centre ice dot.
Star status: Day drew Our Game's attention after joining the Backyard Rink Makers Group and adding pictures of his kids on the backyard rink to his profile, including one of McKenzie stick handling through pylons. The veteran rink-maker's pictures showed the rink's painted lines and well-maintained surface.Our Game later learned Day made a small zamboni out of pipes and water-soaked towels to keep his ice in tip top condition.

Hazel Wells
Hometown: Fredericton, N.B.
Hockey involvement: This is Wells' fifth season behind the bench with the Fredericton Youth Hockey Association, where she's coached atom, peewee and bantam teams.
The 39-year-old is currently the assistant coach of the bantam C Fredericton Scotia Bank Bruins. Wells is also a league board member, and does administrative work at the Bantam level.
Star status: Wells posted pictures of her team to the Our Game Community photo gallery, and her blog about fair play and equal ice time earned her the title of Our Game's first-ever Star of the Week.
