Toronto Maple Leafs forward Pierre Engvall was dealt a one-game suspension on Friday for high-sticking Los Angeles Kings defenceman Sean Durzi, the NHL's department of player safety announced.

The incident took place at 1:02 of the third period in Toronto's 5-0 win over Los Angeles on Thursday.

Engvall was given a five-minute match penalty and game misconduct after striking Durzi in the back of the head as the two players got tangled up near centre ice.

On Saturday, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters forward Nick Robertson is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a right shoulder injury.

Per Keefe, Robertson will not require surgery for the injury sustained during Thursday's contest.

Robertson needed assistance to exit the ice after he absorbed a hit from Kings defenceman Matt Roy in the first period. Roy received a minor penalty for interference at 9:19 of the period.

Robertson, 21, has recorded two goals and five points in 15 games this season.

Thursday's victory was the seventh in an eight-game stretch for the 17-5-6 Maple Leafs, who host the Calgary Flames on Saturday at 7:07 p.m. ET.
