Canadiens' P.K. Subban falls victim to Komarov cheap shot
Season opener gets off to rough start between Toronto, Montreal
Canada's two Original Six franchises usually keep things interesting when they meet, and Wednesday's season opener between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens was no exception.
Just over five minutes in to the first period at the Air Canada Centre, Montreal defenceman P.K. Subban was sent into the boards by Maple Leafs centre Leo Komarov with a late hit.

Komarov received a two-minute minor for the play, but many sports fans (in and out of the hockey world) felt the play was exceedingly dangerous.
Not that there was any doubt but here are 3 frames which pretty much prove that Komarov hit on Subban was dirty #Habs pic.twitter.com/ofKCbQOKnd

I fully admit to knowing little about the pucks but that Leaf has to get suspended or fined for the cheap shot on Subban, right?

Subban got up slowly after the hit, but remained in the game. Montreal reacted quickly and accordingly, with Devante Smith-Pelly receiving a roughing penalty.

Subban didn't seem fazed, earning an assist on each of Montreal's three goals en route to a 3-1 opening night victory over Toronto.
