Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Tuesday that veteran defenceman Chris Pronger was "progressing very well" after a scary eye injury in the previous night's game.

The 37-year-old former Norris Trophy winner as top defenceman was hurt in the first period Monday against Toronto when struck by the stick of Maple Leafs forward Mikael Grabovski.

The six-foot-five Pronger, who does not wear a visor, immediately sped to the team's dressing room.

Holmgren said that Pronger visited Tuesday with team physician Dr. Stephen Goldman and is now headed for bed rest for a few days.

Initial reports indicate he could be out for two to three weeks.

Holmgren said Monday night after the incident that Pronger would wear a visor upon his return.

The Flyers beat Toronto 4-2 and visit the struggling Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.

Philadelphia has the likes of Matt Walker and Andreas Lilja available for duty on the blue-line.
