Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban was named a finalist for the Norris Trophy on Tuesday.

Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ryan Suter are also in the running for the award given to the NHL's top defenceman.

Subban led all defencemen despite missing six games at the beginning of the season due to a contract holdout. He finished with 11 goals and 27 assists, and led all blue-liners with 26 power-play points.

Letang finished second in the scoring race among NHL defencemen despite missing 13 games. The Penguins blue-liner finished with five goals and 33 assists.

Suter, in his first year with Minnesota, led all NHL players in average ice time at 27:16 while scoring four goals and adding 28 assists.

The award, handed out since 1953, is selected by members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.

The three finalists for the Vezina Trophy will be announced Wednesday.

The NHL will reveal all of the award winners during the Stanley Cup Final.
