Ottawa Senators forward Zenon Konopka was fined US$2,500 on Monday for his conduct in the pre-game warmups before Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarter-final against the New York Rangers.

Konopka directed verbal abuse at Rangers forward Brian Boyle as he conducted a live television interview before Saturday's game.

The fine was the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement. The league also handed the Senators a $10,000 fine for Konopka's conduct.

Konopka recorded five points and 193 penalty minutes in 55 regular-season games this season.
