NHL pre-season roundup: Maple Leafs, Jets, Oilers fall in finales
Florida's Jonathan Huberdeau injured in game vs. New Jersey
Anthony Mantha scored the tie-breaking goal midway through the third period as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Saturday in both teams' final pre-season game.
Toronto, which opens the regular season Wednesday against the Senators in Ottawa, wrapped up its exhibition schedule with three straight losses for a 2-4-2 record.
Gustav Nyquist had a goal and an assist for Detroit (6-1-1) and Dylan Larkin and Brendan Smith also scored.
No. 1 draft pick Auston Matthews had two assists for the Maple Leafs, setting up Zach Hyman in the second period and William Nylander in the third. Brooks Laich also scored.
Matthews played 17:52 for Toronto.
The Red Wings raced out to a quick 2-0 lead on Nyquist's and Larkin's first-period goals.
Hyman cut the lead in half 16:49 into the second before Smith restored Detroit's two-goal advantage.
Nylander and Laich scored 12 seconds apart within the opening minute of the third to tie the game 3-3 before Ericsson beat Toronto's Frederik Andersen with the winner at 11:57.
Petr Mrazek stopped 29 shots for the win. Andersen made 19 saves in the losing effort.
Huberdeau injured
Jonathan Huberdeau left with an apparent left leg injury during the Florida Panthers' 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night.
As Huberdeau turned away from a check behind New Jersey's net, the skate of Devils center Sergey Kalinin appeared to come down on Huberdeau's left ankle.

The Panthers have not offered an update on Huberdeau's status.
Canucks top Oilers in Edmonton
Markus Grandlund scored the winner and added an assist as the Vancouver Canucks overcame a slow start to close out their exhibition schedule with a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers 3-2.
Brandon Sutter and Sven Baertschi also scored for the Canucks, who went 3-2-2 in pre-season play.
Benoit Pouliot and Connor McDavid replied for the Oilers (5-3-0), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
After carrying the bulk of the play for most of the opening frame, the Oilers finally got on the board as Leon Draisaitl sent Pouliot in on a partial breakaway and he fought off defender Philip Larsen to beat Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom.
Vancouver got that goal back just 22 seconds later when Sutter redirected a Larsen point shot past Edmonton starter Cam Talbot.
Edmonton made it 2-1 five minutes into the middle frame on a power play. Milan Lucic chipped a puck to McDavid at the line and he calmly banked it in off of Markstrom's back from a bad angle for his fourth goal of the pre-season.
Wild rout Jets
Charlie Coyle had a goal and an assist and Devan Dubnyk stopped 17 shots as the Minnesota Wild downed the Winnipeg Jets 5-1.
Zach Parise opened the scoring in the first period for the Wild (3-3-0) and Mike Reilly, Christoph Bertschy, Marco Scandella and Coyle all had third-period goals.
Joel Armia had the lone goal for Winnipeg (4-3-0).
Michael Hutchinson stopped 29 shots in the losing effort.
The game was the last of the pre-season for both teams. Minnesota opens the regular season in St. Louis on Thursday while the Jets host Carolina, also on Thursday.
