Goaltender Eddie Lack has been traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Carolina Hurricanes for a third-round pick (66th overall) in Saturday's NHL draft and a seventh-rounder in 2016.

The 27-year-old Lack has a 34-30 record for the Canucks in 82 games over the past two seasons.

He has a .917 save percentage in that time with a 2.45 goals-against average.

"Eddie is a big-bodied goalie who has proven himself on the NHL level in the past two seasons," Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis said in a statement released by the team.

Lack becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Vancouver general manager Jim Benning indicated this week that either Lack or minor-league goaltender Jacob Markstrom would be traded before the 2015-16 season began.
