Don Cherry, Ron MacLean added to Canada's Walk of Fame
Coach's Corner hosts honoured for prolific careers
Coach's Corner hosts Don Cherry and Ron MacLean were among the seven new inductees to Canada's Walk of Fame on Saturday afternoon in Toronto.
The two Canadian icons have been Hockey Night in Canada fixtures since they joined forces.
In their 31 years together, the broadcasting veterans have tackled some of the biggest moments in Canada's sport and often draw attention for Cherry's outspoken opinion.
After six seasons of coaching in the NHL, Cherry began his career with CBC as colour commentator in 1980 following the Colorado Rockies failed push to the playoffs. It didn't take long before Coach's Corner was created.
The now 55-year-old MacLean joined Cherry in the 1986-87 season and the pair have been going strong ever since.

Not one to shy away from controversy, Grapes often prefaces his rants with "I'm going to get in trouble for this," which is usually a good indication of what's to follow.
In addition to Cherry's unique sense of fashion, Ron and Don are known for their on-screen rapport which is highlighted by occasional light-hearted banter.
But they always address the hot issues of the moment and take the players to task when necessary. From Matt Cooke to Alex Ovechkin to Sidney Crosby, no one is safe.
Cherry's opinions may be polarizing, but the program he has built with MacLean continues to be an institution in Canada.
