Connor McDavid NHL's top prospect over NCAA's Jack Eichel
Junior star expected to go No. 1 at this summer's entry draft
As expected, Erie Otters star forward Connor McDavid will be the top-ranked North American prospect at this year's NHL draft.
NHL Central Scouting revealed its final draft rankings on Wednesday, and McDavid topped the list over centre Jack Eichel of Boston University.
McDavid, from Newmarket, Ont., finished fourth in Ontario Hockey League scoring with 120 points in just 47 games. His 44 goals were tied for fourth in the OHL.
McDavid also tied for the scoring lead at the 2015 world junior championship with 11 points in seven games as Canada won the gold medal.
Eichel is also considered a top talent entering the 2015 draft, which will be held June 26-27 at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.
He leads NCAA players with 67 points and is of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award, given to college hockey's best player.
