Rebecca Johnston of Sudbury, Ont., and Jayna Hefford of Kingston, Ont., scored for Canada. Shannon Szabados of Edmonton earned the win in net.
Canada completed the preliminary round unbeaten at 3-0 and doesn't play again until Saturday's semifinal.
Canada is the reigning Olympic champion, but the U.S. has won the last two world championships.
