Canada's women blank Finns at hockey worlds

The Canadian women's hockey team secured first place in their pool and a bye to the semifinals with a 2-0 win over Finland at the world championship Tuesday in Winterthur, Switzerland.

Rebecca Johnston of Sudbury, Ont., and Jayna Hefford of Kingston, Ont., scored for Canada. Shannon Szabados of Edmonton earned the win in net.

Canada completed the preliminary round unbeaten at 3-0 and doesn't play again until Saturday's semifinal.

Canada is the reigning Olympic champion, but the U.S. has won the last two world championships.
