Hurt blocking shot against Colorado

The Toronto Maple Leafs' Tomas Kaberle will be out of action for three to four weeks with a broken right hand.

The best of a leaky Leafs defence, Kaberle was injured in a game against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night and will not play against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday evening (CBC Sports, CBCSports.ca).

Team officials said Saturday morning the injury came late in the Avs' game when Kaberle blocked a shot.

He will be replaced in the lineup by rookie Anton Stralman.

Kaberle, who played in last weekend's all-star game and is in his 10th season with the Leafs, has four goals and 26 assists this year and has a –12 plus-minus record for a club that's –34.

Overall, the Czech-born defender has contributed 73 goals and 359 assists in 730 NHL games.
