Leafs ink Alex Steen to 2-year deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Alex Steen to a two-year, $3.4-million contract on Saturday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Alex Steen to a two-year, $3.4-million contract on Saturday.

Steen, who will celebrate his 24th birthday next Saturday, has scored 10 goals and 16 assists in 56 games for Toronto this season.

Selected by the Leafs with the 24th overall selection in the 2002 NHL entry draft, Steen missed five games last month with a separated right shoulder.

The winger will earn $1.7 million in each of the next two seasons after completing his entry-level contract.
