Turns out Larry Fitzgerald is star on the links as well.

The Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, partnered with PGA Tour Pro Kevin Streelman, became the first African-American amateur to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am team title on Sunday with a 12-under-par final round.

The duo finished 41 under par, seven strokes ahead of PGA pro Chez Reavie and amateur Brian Swette.

"It's great, but I'm just hoping moving forward we don't have to talk about colour anymore," Fitzgerald told reporters. "It's just us as one as a people. Just to be here is an accomplishment.

But that's quite an accomplishment." Fitzgerald is only the seventh athlete to win the event and first since Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino in 1988.

'The hardest game out there'

"[The event]ย was me being completely out of my comfort zone, not being a professional, just kind of dealing with what comes," Fitzgerald told Bay Area News Group. "I think that's what made it special for me. This game is so difficult, and I think you even have more respect for the guys who win and play consistently at a high level because this is the hardest game out there."

Fitzgerald's home course is Whisper Rock in Scottsdale, Ariz., which is where Streelman is based. The two led wire to wire.

"He played great today, and this was special," Streelman said. "We'll remember this for a long time."

Regarding Fitzgerald's usual sport of football, the 34-year-old receiver is still contemplating his future, saying at the Super Bowl last week that he would announce his intentions in the next week or two. Fitzgerald is under contract with the Cardinals through the 2018 season.
