Four Canadians advance to final in trampoline and tumbling event

China was 1-2-3 in qualifying for the women's trampoline event, with Dan Li finishing first at 69.50, Shanshan Huang second at 69.10 and Zhong Xinping third at 67.90

Toronto's Karen Cockburn, a two-time Olympic medallist in the event, was fourth at 67.50 and world championship bronze medallist Rosannagh MacLennan of Toronto fifth at 67.20.

In the men's trampoline event, Dong Dong of China was the top qualifier at 71.60 while Japan's Tetsuya Sotomura and Masaki Ito rounded out the top three.

Toronto's Jason Burnett sits fourth in the event at 70.50.

Bryan Milonja of St-Bruno, Que., Charles Thibault of Charlesbourg, Que., and Marty Myers of Toronto were 21st, 22nd and 25th respectively and eliminated.

In women's tumbling, Emily Smith of Burlington, Ont., qualified for the final with a seventh place finish. Ashley Speed of Markham, Ont., finished 11th and was eliminated.

Alexander Seifert and Anton Minayev, both of Calgary, were eliminated from the men's tumbling competition after finishing ninth and 22nd respectively.

All the finals are set for Saturday.
