The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Dave Stala to a two-year contract extension Friday.

Entering play this week, Stala is third in the CFL with 61 receptions this season and 11th in the league with 753 receiving yards.

"Since signing with us, Dave has been a reliable performer on the field and a key part of our offence," Ticats general manager Bob O'Billovich said in a release. "He's been an excellent veteran presence in our locker room and a great representative of the team in our community as well."

Stala's new deal runs through the 2012 season.

The 30-year-old Hamilton native had a career-high 128 receiving yards against the Saskatchewan Roughriders last weekend.

Stala, who has three touchdowns this season, spent six years with the Montreal Alouettes before signing with the Ticats in April 2009.

In 88 career regular-season games, Stala has recorded 273 receptions for 3,356 yards and 12 touchdowns.
