Ticats sign Jimenez, release Goodspeed

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed offensive lineman Jason Jimenez on Tuesday and released tackle Dan Goodspeed.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed veteran offensive lineman Jason Jimenez on Tuesday while releasing tackle Dan Goodspeed.

"Jason is a veteran player who brings size, toughness and experience to our offensive line," Ticats GM Bob O'Billovich said in a statement.

The six-foot-seven, 320-pound Jimenez spent the last four seasons with the B.C. Lions. He appeared in 71 regular-season games and seven playoff games with the Lions, earning a Grey Cup ring in 2006.

He was released by the Lions last month.

The six-foot-six, 317-pound Goodspeed spent last season with the Ticats after being acquired in a trade. Goodspeed, 32, a three-time league all-star, was reportedly due a $90,000 bonus March 1.

As a result of the move, Hamilton doesn't have to pay the money.
