Ticats re-sign leading receiver Rodriguez
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Thursday they will be bringing back two receivers, including top pass catcher Prechae Rodriguez.
The club also signed Chris Davis, a key contributor late last season for Hamilton.
"We have identified Prechae and Chris as key contributors to our offence moving forward, and have ensured that they will remain Ticats for the foreseeable future," general manager Bob O’Billovich said in a statement.
"Prechae developed into an exceptional, game-changing receiver last season, and we were impressed with Chris’ big play ability. We look forward to seeing what these two young receivers can do for us this season."
Rodriguez, in his first year in the CFL, caught 70 passes for 1,099 yards and seven touchdowns. The six-foot-five receiver had 22 more catches than anyone else on the Tiger-Cats and was runner up for CFL's rookie of the year award.
The rookie hooked up with Quinton Porter last October on 12 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns against Montreal. He also caught 10 passes in a July game against Edmonton.
Rodriguez, who turned 24 on Wednesday, played collegiately at Auburn.
Davis signed with Hamilton in October after trying out with the NFL's Tennessee Titans.
He caught touchdowns in three of his four games with the Ticats, finishing with 20 catches. The former Wake Forest collegiate player was in the CFL previously, seeing limited action with Montreal in 2006.
