Ticats hire Marshall as defensive co-ordinator
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats officially confirmed on Tuesday that Greg Marshall will be the team's new defensive co-ordinator and assistant head coach.
The move had first been reported last week. Marshall will try and bring stability to a team that has employed five different co-ordinators since 2003.
Marshall spent the last three seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as defensive co-ordinator and linebackers coach.
"I am very excited to have Greg join the Tiger-Cats family," said head coach Marcel Bellefeuille in a statement. "Greg’s wide range of experience and success in the CFL will have a great impact on our team. The entire organization will benefit from both his character and example."
Marshall over the past 15 years has also been defensive co-ordinator with Saskatchewan, Edmonton and the Ottawa Renegades. He interviewed for Winnipeg's head coach job in late 2005, but the position went to future boss Doug Berry.
The Blue Bombers finished first in the league in several defensive categories in 2007 en route to a Grey Cup appearance, including total yards allowed, but took a step back last season.
Marshall spent nine years in the CFL as a defensive lineman before launching his coaching career.
