Michael Bishop wins CFL weekly award
Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Michael Bishop was named the CFL's offensive player of the week Wednesday.
Bishop led the Roughriders to a 17 point comeback on the road in a 34-31 win against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.
The Riders quarterback completed 24 of 30 passes for 370 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against Winnipeg. He also rushed nine times for 56 yards.
Cameron Wake of the B.C. Lions won the defensive player award.
Wake had seven tackles including four sacks and a forced fumble in the Lions' 35-12 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.
Wake has 38 tackles this season with a league-leading 13 sacks and two forced fumbles.
B.C.'s Jason Clermont won the Canadian player award. Clermont had eight catches for a team-high 132 yards against Hamilton.
Kick-returner Larry Taylor of the Montreal Alouettes took the special teams player honour.
Taylor had a league-high 137 punt-return yards in the Alouettes' 45-19 victory over the visiting Toronto Argonauts.
Taylor returned a Mike Vanderjagt punt 69 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory.
