Tiger-Cats sign quarterback Dane Evans to extension

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats has signed backup quarterback Dane Evans to an extension through the 2021 season.

The 25-year-old native of Sanger, Texas dressed in all 18 regular-season games for the Ticats last year, completing 26-of-42 passes for 383 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He started Hamilton's regular season finale against the Montreal Alouettes on Nov. 3.

Evans, the backup to Jeremiah Masoli last year, spent the final month of the 2017 season on the Tiger-Cats practice roster after attending training camp with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.

The six-foot-one, 218-pound Evans played five years of NCAA football at the University of Tulsa.
