Elks' opener moved to Saturday afternoon to accommodate Game 1 of Stanley Cup final
The Canadian Football League has moved the Elks' season opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders to an afternoon start to allow sports fans in Edmonton to also watch the Oilers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final.
Oilers scheduled to face Panthers in Florida at 6 p.m. ET
The Canadian Football League has moved the Elks' season opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders to an afternoon start to allow sports fans in Edmonton to also watch the Oilers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final.
The game originally scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. ET will now start three hours earlier.
Game 1 of the NHL final is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. in Sunrise, Fla.
The Oilers advanced to their first Stanley Cup final since 2006 with a six-game win over the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference final.
They will face the Panthers, who are in the Cup final for a second straight season after losing in five games to the Vegas
Golden Knights last year.
The Elks missed the CFL playoffs with a 4-14 record last year.
