The Winnipeg Blue Bombers extended the contract of kicker Justin Palardy and re-signed defensive back Johnny Sears on Thursday.

The six-foot, 201-pound Palardy, a native of Truro, N.S., hit 39 of 45 field goals last season. The 86.7 per cent success ratio tied Palardy's single-season club record.

Sears was scheduled to become a free agent next month. He started 14 of 15 games he dressed for last season, registering 50 defensive tackles, six more on special teams and three interceptions.
