CFL to study new venue for Argos

Canadian Football League commissioner Mark Cohon said Saturday that the league would look into the possibility of the Toronto Argonauts playing games at BMO Field.

"At its meeting earlier today, the Canadian Football League Board of Governors instructed the league office to work with the Toronto Argonauts to provide a detailed report on the feasibility of the city of Toronto's BMO Field for CFL football," Cohon said in a statement. "The Board was assured this work will be undertaken as quickly as possible."

It is believed that team owners David Cynamon and Howard Sokolowski are interested in moving the Argos to the home of the Toronto FC soccer club from the cavernous Rogers Centre.

Cohon has been non-committal in his public statements regarding the possibility. BMO Field seats just over 20,000 but as currently set up cannot contain a 110-yard football field.

Argos president Bob Nicholson said this week that the team would be playing at Rogers Centre again in 2010, where they averaged just over 26,000 fans per game this season.
