Football quarterback Andrew Buckley and swimmer Kylie Masse are this year's winners of the BLG Awards, which go to the top athletes in Canadian university sport.

They were selected from among eight finalists at a ceremony in Calgary.

Buckley set a single-season CIS record in passing yards and led the University of Calgary Dinos to an 8-0 record in the regular season.

The University of Toronto's Masse swept three backstroke finals and finished top two in all seven of her races at the national university swim championship.

Buckley was the recipient of the Hec Crighton Trophy that is given to university football's most valuable player. The 22-year-old will compete for a CFL job with his hometown Calgary Stampeders at their camp later this month.

Masse, a 20-year-old from Lasalle, Ont., will swim the 100-metre backstroke for Canada at this summer's Olympic Games in Rio.
