Storm stay unbeaten on road as Stewart double-double keys victory over Dream

Jewell Loyd scored 20 points, Breanna Stewart pitched in with a double-double and the Seattle Storm remained unbeaten on the road with an 86-75 victory over the Atlanta Dream in WNBA action on Friday.

Loyd, who came into the game tied for third in the league with 25 made 3-pointers, hit 2 of 5 from beyond the arc as the Storm (9-2) shot 47.6 per cent from distance (10 of 21). Stewart scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half to help Seattle take a 45-35 lead. Stewart finished with 13 rebounds as Seattle improved to 4-0 away from home.

Courtney Williams had 19 points — on 7-of-20 shooting — and 11 rebounds to pace the Dream (4-6), who lost their fourth straight game and fell to 1-4 at home. Cheyenne Parker scored 17.

Seattle shot 58, including 2 of 10 from beyond the arc, in the first half but kept within striking distance by making 13 of 14 free throws.

Epiphanny Prince came off the bench to score 11 for the Storm, who won their second straight and sport the best record in the league. Prince sank 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.

Wings down Mercury

Arike Ogunbowale made four 3-points and had 20 points, Satou Sabally scored eight of her 17 points in the fourth quarter and the Dallas Wings beat the Phoenix Mercury 77-59 on Friday night.

Agunbowale was 7 of 16 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. The rest of the Wings (5-5) made just 2 of 15 from distance.

Brittney Griner led the Mercury (5-5) with 19 points and six rebounds. They lost their second straight and fell to 1-4 at home, with 19 points and six rebounds.

Skylar Diggins-Smith scored 11 on 4-of-12 shooting, while Canada's Kia Nurse had 10 points on 2-of-10 shooting. Phoenix shot 35 per cent from the floor and made 3 of 20 from beyond the arc.

Ogunbowale scored nine points in guiding Dallas to a 40-33 halftime lead. The Wings stayed comfortably ahead until Allana Smith hit a 3-pointer with 7:44 left to pull Phoenix to 62-53. But Sabally scored six points in a minute span and Dallas led by double digits the rest of the way.
