Top-seeded UBC on to CIS men's basketball semis

UBC, which last won the university men's championship in 1972, lost in the 2009 and 2010 finals.

The Thunderbirds pulled away in the final quarter, outscoring the Axemen 27-15.

UBC's Josh Whyte of Calgary, voted the CIS MVP a year ago, was named player of the game following a 19-point, seven-rebound, six-assist effort.

Owen Klassen led Acadia with 22 points.
