A goaltending violation decided the Hamilton Honey Badgers' 96-93 win over the Fraser Valley Bandits in CEBL action Friday.

Hamilton's Lindell Wigginton and Fraser Valley's Alex Campbell both scored 21 points to lead their teams. Jean-Victor Mukama added 16 for the winning side, the same number of points Kenny Manigault scored for Fraser Valley.

It was Fraser Valley who set the Elam Ending target of 96, but Hamilton came back from an initial 87-85 to find themselves leading 95-91.

Jamal Reynolds converted two free throws to keep the Bandits alive, but MVP contender Wigginton suffered a foul in the following possession that would go on to solve the contest. He missed the first shot, but a goaltending violation in his second attempt awarded the point to Hamilton and brought the game to an end.

Hamilton improved to 8-3 and leapfrogged Fraser Valley, who dropped to 5-3, for second in the league standings.

Hamilton will visit the Guelph Nighthawks at the Sleeman Centre next on Tuesday, having won their three previous games with the Ontario rivals this season.

Fraser Valley will host the first of four match-ups with league leaders Edmonton Stingers on Sunday at the Abbotsford Centre in Abbotsford, B.C.
