Yankees GM Brian Cashman says he regrets A-Rod profanity
Injured star tweeted injury update
Brian Cashman says he regrets the words he used in an angry response to Alex Rodriguez's injury update on Twitter, but the New York Yankees general manager insists the team wants a healthy A-Rod back at third base as soon as possible.
Cashman says owner Hal Steinbrenner told him he spoke with Rodriguez on Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., and reiterated that injury information should be announced by the team, not individual players on social media.
Just before the first pitch of New York's game Wednesday night against Texas, Yankees spokesman Jason Zillo told reporters that Rodriguez called Cashman around 5:30 p.m., and spoke with the GM and team president Randy Levine.
Zillo says they spoke for nearly 30 minutes and everyone fully understands the protocol in place.
