	1. ST. LOUIS CARDINALS [unchanged] Record: 39-21 Last 10: 6-4 Arizona did the Wacha-ing (10 hits, six runs) against Cardinals' youngster Michael Wacha in his second Major League start, but St. Louis is very happy with its recruit out of Texas A & M. He was 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA for Wichita in Triple-A after being the 19th overall choice in last June's draft. He stopped Kansas City on two hits in his debut.
	2. ATLANTA BRAVES [up from 5] Record: 37-23 Last 10: 7-3 Another hot-shot pitcher, 22-year-old Julio Teheran stepped up with his finest performance of the season for the Braves. The Colombian had a no-hitter for 7.2 innings against Pittsburgh en route to eight innings of one-hit ball, with 11 striekouts. He was 4-2 last year with a 3.30 earned-run-average and has been a guy Atlanta refuses to trade anytime a team comes calling.
	3. TEXAS RANGERS [down from 2] Record: 36-23 Last 10: 4-6 The Rangers have had quite a few first basemen move on in recent years including Mark Teixeira, Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Davis. Now just when Mitch Moreland had finally settled into an everyday role, he's been forced to the disabled list with a hamstring issue. Moreland, who injured his other hamstring last year, was hitting .288 with 12 homers and 29 RBI.
	4. BOSTON RED SOX [up from 8] Record: 37-24 Last 10: 6-4 Never mind fearing Big Papi (David Ortiz), what about Jose Iglesias? The slick-fielding Red Sox infielder received three walks in a game against Texas. That was after only six walks in over 100 career at-bats previously. Iglesias singled in his other at-bat, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. And his batting average remains over .400 for the season.
	5. CINCINNATI REDS [down from 4] Record: 36-24 Last 10: 5-5 It's looking like an all-star right side of the infield for the Reds. Joey Votto has a big lead in the first base race while Brandon Phillips is in a close battle in second base balloting. Votto, hitting .323 with 10 homers, has been an all-star the last three years. It's two out of the last three for Phillips, who leads Cincinnati with 45 RBI.
	6. NEW YORK YANKEES [down from 3] Record: 35-25 Last 10: 5-5 Comfort is important for most teams, including the Yankees. CC Sabathia has been hearing about his diminished velocity all year until he pumped up his fastball to 94 in stiffling the Red Sox and throwing a complete game win against Cleveland. Mark Teixeira isn't happy with his average and not being comfortable at the plate, but he's had three homers in a week since his return.
	7. OAKLAND ATHLETICS [up from 15] Record: 37-25 Last 10: 8-2 A long way from the Miami Biogenesis kerfuffle, 40-year-old Bartolo Colon isn't letting last year's 50-game suspension bother him in Oakland. The A's portly pitcher twirled seven innings of one-run ball against Milwaukee and followed with a complete game win over the White Sox to run his record to 7-2, with a 3.14 ERA. Easy as pi!
	8. ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS [up from 10] Record: 34-26 Last 10: 6-4 Paul Goldschmidt became the first Diamondback to hit two Grand Slam home runs on the same road trip! Arizona is getting top 10 performances in both hitting and pitching. In the latter category, Patrick Corbin was the first in the majors to reach nine wins this season while nobody else on the D-Backs staff has more than four victories.
	9. PITTSBURGH PIRATES [down from 7] Record: 35-25 Last 10: 4-6 The news has mostly been bad on the pitching front for the Pirates, who lost Wandy Rodriguez to the DL after just 14 pitches with forearm tightness. Jeanmar Gomez was already out with forearm inflammation. Thankfully Francisco Liriano, a free agent who didn't debut this year until May, has been flashing his old form, with a 3-2 record and 2.17 ERA.
	10. BALTIMORE ORIOLES [up from 12] Record: 34-26 Last 10: 7-3 He was Player of the Week, then Player of the Month in April. Now Chris Davis has added another Player of the Week feather to his Orioles cap. The 27-year-old Texan who didn't start to fly until he left the Texas Rangers, produced a four-homer, six-RBI, 13-for-27 week that has him keeping company with Miguel Cabrera among the league leaders.
	11. DETROIT TIGERS [down from 9] Record: 32-26 Last 10: 4-6 Doug Fister may be wondering where all the Tigers' firepower is during his starts. The 6-foot-8 righty reeled off 21 scoreless innings inside of a three-game stretch but Detroit batters only produced two runs in support, despite leading the league in average and being third in runs. Fister took two losses and fell to 5-3 with a 3.27 earned-run-average.
	12. TAMPA BAY RAYS [up from 14] Record: 32-27 Last 10: 7-3 In 30 games with Boston last season, James Loney had two homers, eight RBI and a .230 average. For the year, after starting out with the Dodgers, he batted .249. With Tampa Bay, however, Loney's got his groove back. Since April 22 his average has been above .300 and he's had seven homers and 30 RBI, on track for his best power numbers since 2007.
	13. COLORADO ROCKIES [unchanged] Record: 32-29 Last 10: 5-5 The Rockies are used to some power shows in the mile-high atmosphere in Denver, but how about the performances of Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki against Cincinnati on Wednesday. Cargo had three homers for the second time in his career and six RBI; Tulo went 5-for-5 with a pair of homers and they've combined for 32 long-balls on the season.
	14. SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS [down from 11] Record: 31-28 Last 10: 4-6 The strength of the Giants has been strong pitching and timely hitting. That formula has resulted in two World Series titles in three years. San Francsico's offence didn't look very timely against the Blue Jays in their two series and they can't even count on their pitching. Four wins is the best that any member of their starting rotation has managed so far.
	15. PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES [up from 19] Record: 31-30 Last 10: 7-3 So this is the Domonic Brown the Phillies have been waiting for! A 2006 draftee, Brown came into this season with a dozen Major League home runs spread out over three seasons. Recently he knocked nine balls out of the park in 10 games and leads the National League with 18 round-trippers. Guess he was worth the wait.
	16. WASHINGTON NATIONALS [unchanged] Record: 29-30 Last 10: 4-6 With the Nationals still not yet above .500, it's been a rough go with top stars Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper on the disabled list. Harper had to book a visit to Dr. James Andrews to check out bursitis in his knee that's caused swelling. Also hit hard has been free agent pitcher Dan Haren, who fell to 4-7 with a 5.45 ERA after a recent pummeling.
	17. CLEVELAND INDIANS [down from 6] Record: 30-29 Last 10: 3-7 When the Rocky River Police show up on your doorstep, you know it can't be good. That's what Indians' injured closer Chris Perez is finding out after a package reportedly containing marijuana was delivered to his Ohio homestead, followed by Rocky River's finest. Perez has some 'splainin' to do with the Indians' brass and manager Tito Francona.
	20. SAN DIEGO PADRES [up from 22] Record: 21-25 Last 10: 5-5 Living up to his first name, the Padres' third baseman with the surname Headley has watched his average scuttle down to .139 since May 19. Chase has been doing too much chasing of pitches outside the hitting zone. Last year he mashed to the tune of 31 homers, 115 RBI but a 1-for-25 stretch has been messing with his head.
	19. MINNESOTA TWINS [up from 25] Record: 18-26 Last 10: 1-9 Do It Like Doumit. This could be the new Twins' motto for their versatile batsmen. Ryan Doumit knocked in 13 runs in eight games as he continues to circulate around the Minnesota line-up. He caught 19 games, played in the outfield seven times and was the DH on 20 occasions. Last season, his first with the Twins, he hit 18 homers with 75 RBI and a .275 average.
	20. TORONTO BLUE JAYS [up from 22] Record: 25-34 Last 10: 5-5 It's good to see Jose Reyes is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a mangled ankle that took him out of the lineup after only 10 games for the Blue Jays. He was hitting .395 when he was injured. Adam Lind was nearly a forgotten man at the start of the season, but he's come on strong to lead Toronto in average with hits in nine of his last 11 games.
	21. LOS ANGELES DODGERS [up from 22] Record : 26-33 Last 10 : 5-5 Yasiel, that's my (Dodger) baby. Los Angeles was looking for a lift when they brought up Cuban ex-patriate Yasiel Puig but his first four games are worthy of a blockbuster Hollywood screenplay. The 22-year-old had three homers, nine RBI and a javelin toss from right field to double off a runner and end a Dodger victory. That will spice things up.
	22. CHICAGO WHITE SOX [down from 19] Record: 25-33 Last 10: 1-9 You'd think that scoring five runs in an extra innings game on the road might be enough to snap an eight-game winless streak, but not so for the White Sox. They gave those five runs right back to Seattle before finally breaking through in the 16th inning for a win. Jake Peavy joined the lengthy list of Chicago pitchers to be hurt this season with a cracked rib. He's out four-to-six weeks.
	23. LOS ANGELES ANGELS [down from 21] Record: 26-34 Last 10: 3-7 Pain in his left foot, due to plantar fasciitis and recovering from a bad right knee has had the Angels' Albert Pujols doing the hokey pokey and trying to persevere through his injuries. He hit an eighth-inning home run to help Los Angeles beat the Cubs. That came just after being swept at home in a three-game series by division rival Houston Astros.
	24. SEATTLE MARINERS up from 27] Record: 26-35 Last 10: 4-6 A former Angel Kendrys Morales is settling in nicely in his new home with the Mariners after being dealt last December for Jason Vargas. Morales, who hit .306 with 34 homers, 108 RBI in 2009 in Los Angeles, is leading Seattle regulars in average and RBI. He's playing like he did before he broke his leg in a home plate celebration a few years back.
	25. NEW YORK METS [up from 26] Record: 23-33 Last 10: 6-4 Matt Harvey, move over. You're going to soon have some company as a Mets' ace pitcher with Zack Wheeler about to come up from the minors. Wheeler was obtained by New York in the deal that sent Carlos Beltran to San Francisco, and he's compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.86 ERA in the thin Las Vegas air of Triple-A.
	26. KANSAS CITY ROYALS [down from 23] Record: 25-32 Last 10: 4-6 It was 20 years ago that George Brett was wrapping up a Hall of Fame career with the Royals. Now he's back as the K.C. hitting coach and boy can these guys use him. When it comes to power the Royals haven't a clue as they've managed only 13 homers in a 30-game stretch. Brett says most of his 317 home runs came when he wasn't trying to hit them. Sounds like the Royals. Not trying.
	27. CHICAGO CUBS [Unchanged] Record: 24-33 Last 10: 6-4 Highly regarded Anthony Rizzo, who bounced from Boston to San Diego to the Chicago Cubs, is making a strong case to be an all-star. The 23-year-old slugger leads all National League first basemen in extra-base hits and more than half his hits so far have taken him to second base or beyond. Ten homers and 39 RBI has turned a few heads -- and votes -- his way.
	28. HOUSTON ASTROS [up from 29] Record: 22-39 Last 10: 7-3 You know that $21-million dollar payroll that keeps the Astros flying? Well, it's about to take a big jump up from all indications. The Astros chose Mark Appel, a native Houstonian who pitched for Stanford as the first choice in the June draft. Appel turned down $3.8 million from Pittsburgh last year when he was the eighth pick, but now is on line for about twice that much as the No. 1.
	29. MILWAUKEE BREWERS [down from 28] Record: 22-37 Last 10: 3-7 With right-handed swingers like Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Gomez, you'd think that the Brewers might have the chops, if not the hops, to produce a barrel full of wins against left-handed pitching. Not so. Lefties have been like kryptonite for Milwaukee, which has come out on top only five times in 25 starts against southpaws.
	30. MIAMI MARLINS [unchanged] Record: 16-44 Last 10: 3-7 Casey at the bat is a novel sight for the Marlins, after Casey Kotchman hurt his hamstring in just the second game of the season. Now he's back and Miami hopes he can hit like he did two seasons ago for Tampa Bay when he produced a .306 average. Nathan Eovaldi, out with shoulder inflammation, might be back soon as well.
