John Gibbons tossed as frustrations boil over for Blue Jays
Toronto swept by White Sox, sit 4th in AL East
The Toronto Blue Jays stumbled to their third straight loss on Wednesday and it would appear that the frustration of a tough April is starting to show.
In the top of the seventh inning, manager John Gibbons was tossed from the game in the midst of his team being swept aside by the Chicago White Sox.
Players from both sides had issues with the strike zone established by home plate umpire John Tumpane, but it was the Blue Jays who were not able to overcome the uncertainty.
The White Sox had just opened the scoring with a three-run outburst, when Gibbons decided he had seen enough.
"I said something to the third base umpire about the check swing, for me it looked like he was almost at full swing then the home plate umpire hopped in," said Gibbons. "I think the guy at third can probably handle himself. That's what that was."
With the loss, Toronto fell to 10-13 and sits in fourth place in the American League East.
Despite the disappointing start to the season, it might not be time to worry just yet. After 23 games in 2015, the Blue Jays were in the basement of the division with a record of 11-12.
The White Sox defeated the Blue Jays 4-0 in the finale of the three-game set.
