Jays' offer to Encarnacion not sufficient: Agent

Edwin Encarnacion has received a contract offer from the Toronto Blue Jays, but it isn't good enough to get him signed. 

Encarnacion's agent Paul Kinzer told Sportsnet 590 The Fan in Toronto the offer is "not where the camp wanted it to be."

Kinzer also said he is hoping to the 33-year-old slugger will sign prior to MLB's winter meetings, scheduled for Dec. 4-8 in National Harbor, Md.

"I think we could possibly have something done before then," Kinzer told the radio station, repeating that the Jays remain Encarnacion's first choice. 

Donaldson wins Silver Slugger award for 2nd straight season

Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson was named the Silver Slugger Award winner at third base in the American League on Thursday, his second consecutive year taking home the trophy. 

The awards are voted on by coaches and managers, and one is awarded for each position in each league. 

Donaldson, last year's AL MVP, hit 37 home runs with 99 runs-batted in 2016, to go along with a .284 batting average and .404 on-base percentage, leading Toronto to the ALCS.
