It was a quiet night for the four Toronto Blue Jays representing Canada at the all-star game in San Diego Tuesday night as the American League beat the National League 4-2 for the fourth straight year.

Right-hander Aaron Sanchez allowed two hits and gave up a walk and a run in the fourth, his only inning as AL manager Ned Yost limited each pitcher to a maximum of one inning. The appearance was the 24-year-old's first all-star game.

Edwin Encarnacion pinch ran for David Ortiz in what was the Red Sox DH's 10th and final all-star game. Ortiz drew a walk in the third off Jose Fernandez, and left to a standing ovation.

Encarnacion was also walked and scored a run. Josh Donaldson and Michael Saunders were each 0 for 1.

Marco Estrada, who attended the festivities, did not play due to injury.

Other Jays take advantage of downtime

While their teammates were in San Diego, some of the team headed a bit farther south, using the all-star break as a chance to decompress in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

While some on the team likely fit in a solid workout pulling in a marlin, Kevin Pillar, having made a name for himself laying out in the grass, kept to his usual routine.
