Devon Travis, Blue Jays' infielder, named AL rookie of the month

Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis was named the American League rookie of the month on Monday. Travis, who was acquired in the off-season in the trade that sent centre-fielder Anthony Gose to Detroit, hit six home runs in April while batting .325 with a .393 on-base percentage.

Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis was named the American League rookie of the month on Monday.

Travis, who was acquired in the off-season in the trade that sent centre-fielder Anthony Gose to Detroit, hit six home runs in April while batting .325 with a .393 on-base percentage.

The 24-year-old leads all rookies in hits (28), runs scored (20), home runs (seven) and RBIs (23).

Travis had never played above double-A before making the Blue Jays big league roster out of spring training.
