The Toronto Blue Jays' David Price not only pitched seven strong innings to get the win in the opener of a crucial series against the New York Yankees, he also sparkled with his glove work.

Acquired in a July trade with the Detroit Tigers in hopes of leading the Blue Jays to the playoffs for the first time in 22 years, the lefty Price was tabbed to face the Yankees with their heavily loaded left-handed hitting lineup.

With the Blue Jays holding a two-and-a-half-game lead over the Yankees atop the American League East entering Monday's contest, Price shut out the Bronx Bombers for seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven. The Jays won the game 4-2 to extend their lead to three-and-a-half games over the Yankees.

Price also featured some fine glove work, beginning with the first batter of the game, Jacoby Ellsbury who hit a rocket at him.

Then, in the sixth inning, Price was the only one in position to make a catch on a pop-up by Brian McCann. He handled it flawlessly, well clear of catcher Russell Martin and third baseman Josh Donaldson.

Price ran his record to 17-5 on the season, and 8-1 as a Blue Jay, while lowering his earned run average to 2.34.
