Harvey takes 9th in Stage 6 of Tour de Ski

Canada's Alex Harvey finished ninth in the sixth stage of the Tour de Ski in Cortina, Italy, on Thursday.

The 21-year-old cross-country skier from St. Ferreol, Que., stuck with some of the world's best skiers to finish the 10-kilometre race in 23:56.9. He now sits 19th overall in Tour de Ski standings.

Ivan Babikov, of Canmore, Alta., finished 18th in Thursday's race, while Devon Kershaw of Sudbury, Ont., placed 37th.

Babikov is 12th in overall Tour de Ski standings, while Kershaw is 16th.

Sweden's Daniel Rickardsson won the race in 23:14. Lukas Bauer of the Czech Republic was second at 23:16.2, and Norway's Petter Northug placed third at 23:20.7. Northug is the overall leader on the tour.

Sara Renner of Canmore finished 33rd in the women's five-kilometre classic-ski race, and is 23rd in the overall Tour de Ski standings. 

The Tour de Ski event has eight stages, taking place over 10 days and in three countries. It wraps up in Val di Fiemme, Italy, this weekend.
