Christine Sinclair and Diana Matheson each scored to lead Canada in a 2-0 victory over New Zealand on Saturday at the Match World Women's Cup.

It was Sinclair's 16th goal of the international season. The goal tied the national single-season record she set in 2007.

She now has 136 career goals in 183 international matches.

Sophie Schmidt, playing in her 39th consecutive international game, was the player of the match with assists on both Canadian goals at Stade de Lussy.

"It was a really strong performance," said Canadian head coach John Herdman in a press release. "They took a couple of steps today. They were really resolute to sticking to certain things to which they said they would."

All four teams competing in the tournament are preparing for the London Games.

Canada's women's national team will train in Switzerland until Wednesday, then travel to England for the Summer Games.

Canada's opening match in Olympic women's soccer is July 25 against Japan.
