With voters in Saskatchewan heading to the polls on Monday, the CBC's polls analyst Eric Grenier looks at whether Brad Wall will win another term.

Despite there being "not a lot of tension in this race", with Wall's Saskatchewan Party enjoying a comfortable 2:1 lead over the NDP in the polls, Grenier said the race still has significant implications for the New Democrats, both provincially and federally.

"If they don't put up good numbers in Saskatchewan on Monday, then they have the convention in Edmonton for the federal party. Maybe Tom Mulcair doesn't get the 70 per cent or so he needs to hold on," Grenier said.

"And then on April 19 in Manitoba there's an election, where the New Democrats have been in power since 1999. They're in danger of losing their hold on government there. So it could be a bad month for the New Democrats.

"This could be the first in a series of unfortunate events for the NDP."
