Checking-in on wearing Niqabs, electric cars, Barrett Brown & more

We hear what you had to say about Canadian women wearing Niqabs and prescription drugs covered under a national pharmacare plan. Plus, we check-in with Mohammed Fahmy and speak with Barrett Brown in jail.
The Niqab has been generating a lot of debate and discussion lately, since the Prime Minister's comments that wearing the niqab is rooted in a culture that's "anti-woman". (Fred Ernst/Associated Press)

It's Thursday and that means time to check-in with listeners' thoughts on stories of the past week.

Our Friday host David Common joined Anna Maria in studio to help get through all the feedback.

Shomyla Hammad, Khadra Ali and Anna Maria in our studio in Toronto.

Here are the stories we covered today:

From our of Niqab-wearing Canadian women to a proposal to cover the cost of prescription drugs under a national pharmacare plan to electric cars, not as environmentally friendly as one might assume.

Plus we speak with Barrett Brown who is serving 5 years in prison. He says he was targeted by the U.S. government for work that exposed how the US used private security firms to spy on activists. He joined us on the line from Fort Worth Federal Correctional Institute.

And we also check in with another journalist targeted by a government, Canadian Mohammed Fahmy on trial in Egypt.

As always, if you have thoughts on any of the stories you hear, get in touch.
